Preschool, Kindergarten, and First Grade An Early Childhood Ministry of King of Glory Lutheran Church
PURPOSE The
purpose of TLC is to provide a learning environment that
is conducive to Christian growth and development. We encourage
a lively awareness of God's love for each child. The school
provides developmentally appropriate opportunities to learn
by active participation in all areas of growth; socially,
cognitively, emotionally and spiritually. STAFF The
TLC staff is made up of Christian teachers who are experienced,
educated and qualified to guide your child with understanding,
patience and love. Teachers
attend professional conferences, participate in regularly
scheduled staff meetings and keep alert to new academic
trends and needs. ENRICHMENT Music,
Spanish, Chapel, Computers, Theme Days, Parent Workshops CURRICULUM The
TLC program's curriculum is designed to be developmentally
appropriate for each age group, two through first grade,
in order to meet each age's specific needs. Through
a carefully planned curriculum, TLC creates an environment
which encourages... ...The
development of a positive self-concept and a feeling of
confidence. ...Stimulation
of each child's inquiring mind to ensure intellectual development. ...Growth
in the ability to understand feelings and to express them
in constructive ways. ...The
development of increased physical coordination of both large
and small muscles. ...Growth
in social skills and the development of happy and responsible
relationships with others. ...Preparation
to cope with a changing world by learning to make choices
and to solve problems. PHILOSOPHY That
children learn best in... An
atmosphere of love, where each is encouraged to explore
and discover while being treated with courteous and compassionate
tenderness. An
atmosphere of patience, allowing unhurried responses to
the natural inquisitiveness of each child. An
atmosphere of understanding, where children may develop
a true sense of values. An
atmosphere of warm and active cooperation between parents
and teachers, which affirms the child as the most important
concern of home and school. ENROLLMENT Cut
off days for birthdays is September 1, though exceptions
are made for children who reside in North Carolina. All
children must be potty trained (except for the two year
old program) and have immunization records up to date and
on file at the school CALENDAR September
